知名美国民俗音乐人、Mountain High乐队(原胡同黄鼠狼乐队)主唱Chris Hawke先生也将参加本次表演,并担任贾米森先生的翻译,与现场观众一起互动。

Jenny and the Hog Drovers乐队起源于美国北卡罗莱纳州阿什维尔的沃伦威尔逊大学,队名中的“Drovers”原指19世纪北卡山里的赶猪人。

Traditional mountain music and contra-square dance with Jenny and the Hog Drovers (USA)

An authentic barn dance from the Blue Ridge Mountains. Fresh from exclusive performances at the National Center of the Performing Arts and the US Embassy, caller Phil Jamison from Asheville, North Carolina, will teach the audience how to do contra, square and big circle dances. Old time Appalachian music will be provided by Phil’s band Jenny and the Hog Drovers, with twin fiddles, guitar, double bass and banjo. Special musical guests will also teach some indigenous Chinese ethnic minority dances from their hometown in Yunnan province. Chris Hawke of the Hutong Yellow Weasels, recently renamed Mountain High, will be on hand to help Phil translate to Chinese audiences. Phil has performed all over the world, including at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. Next on their schedule is the Shanghai Concert Hall.

Jenny and the Hog Drovers

Jenny and the Hog Drovers play the traditional folk music of the Appalachian mountains using two fiddles, guitar, double bass and banjo. They met at Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina. Their name comes from the “drovers” who herded hogs to market in the mountains of West North Carolina in the nineteenth century. Warren Wilson is a work college, requiring all students to do labor every week. Two of the band members worked with pigs on the college’s farm. Four of the band members are students of Prof. Phil Jamison, the fifth member. He is a dance caller and author of the definitive book on southern American folk dance. In 2016 the band placed fourth at the Appalachian Stringband Festival at Clifftop, West Virginia, a prestigious competition that attracts musicians from around the world.
